IT START WITH ONE KIDS LOVE OF MUSIC AND HIP-HOP
Then came years of work and connections...
Freinds became family and the grind became a way of life
When BLIZM was just 11 years old his musical talents were already being put on display every Sunday. Born and raised in Panama City, FL, even at this early age he was allowed to play the drums for the church he attended as a child on Sunday’s. His mother, a singer, songwriter and pianist, exposed him to the creation of music from the day he was born.
But as he got older, he strayed away from what he felt were the constraints of the church and gospel music, and began to gravitate to a new genre that was taking over in the 80’s: Hip-H0p.
The freedom of expression, rebellious, raw lyrics and production style (especially the DRUMS) made him an instant fan and lover of the music and the culture. He began to study his favorite artists, and tried and find any Hip-Hop instrumentals he could find and write his own raps over the beats.
Then came his troubling teen years and his rebellious spirit caused him to collide with his parents forcing an early departure from their home at 15. He began running the streets daily, hustling drugs with his friends. The street life he was living and his love for the new sub-genre in Hip-Hop, “Gangsta Rap” made him dive even deeper into the music and street life.
Even though he was living the fast life and risking his freedom as a juvenile, he was still able to graduate from high school. Because he didn’t see a path in his hometown that didn’t end with him going to prison for dealing drugs, he decided he had to leave. Even back then he wanted to take music seriously and get into the industry. But without any support or connections, he decided to enlist in the military to jump start his life before it went left and landed him in jail.
This proved to be the best move he could have made. It allowed BLIZM, for the first time, to see the world and understand it was bigger than the hood he came from. It gave him the confidence to relocate to Atlanta, GA in 1997 after his short military enlistment and peruse his music passion.
Being inspired by the display of black excellence and success in ATL, BLIZM got on his grind. He began to network and meet people involved in the industry, and connected with a crew in East Point. He honed his skills as an emcee doing open mics and writing for other members in the crew. He eventually connected with DJ Fonzo (Doc Zo) and they began to work together. For the first time BLIZM had a producer willing to work with him and feed him original beats to record to.
This was the beginning on Chainless Entertainment. Keep in mind this was the dawn of the indie label movement in Hip-Hop. BLIZM had the confidence and hustle to envision putting out his own music, instead of waiting for a “record deal” to come his way. Him and Doc Zo began to hit the studio and record music that would eventually become his first solo album and the first release on his newly founded independent label Chainless Entertainment, “Blueprints To My Brain”.
The album was successful in bringing BLIZM recognition as a serious artist and businessman. It opened several doors and new relationships for him around the new city he had relocated to. He began work with several other indie artists and producers. But his musical background of being a drummer called for him to expand his skillset. So he began to learn how to produce beats himself. He began to work on his second solo album, and then legal troubles came his way.
Facing serious charges and a possible lengthy prison sentence, BLIZM had to take a pause from creating music and focus on his legal defense. After being out on bail awaiting a trial, he was able to settle his case with a plea deal that let him avoid prison time. With the case behind him and the future ahead, he decided to enroll in school to learn Audio Engineering so he can have complete control of the creation process with his music. He went to AIU in Buckhead, Atlanta and learned valuable skills towards a degree in Media Production like Audio Engineering and Video Production. Both of which he put to great use throughout the rest of his music journey.
After the release of his second album and gaining his new skillsets from school, BLIZM began to work in several recording studios in the city. He connected with Slick Records in Decatur and became the lead engineer at the world class multi-million dollar studio. Here he recorded sessions with several major artists and producers, doing sessions with The Justice League, J. Holiday, 112 and many more.
This is when BLIZM also began to display more of his media production skills. Directing and Editing music videos for himself and other artists during this era of his career, he became an individual powerhouse in the creative space.

Freinds became family and the grind became a way of life
BLIZM’s reputation as an emcee, songwriter, producer and engineer began to open doors and also help bolster his brand and label. He was busy at work, when his cousin back in Panama City, Cix-8, reached out to him about doing a music project. Although he was a hustler, Cix-8 wanted to dive into the music industry and he reached out to his fam BLIZM to help him get it done. They traveled back and forth in between the two cities, each working on music for the project and eventually the compiled the songs for what would be the first compilation album on Chainless, “South Park: Supa Hard”.
